Friendzy / Classic party games / Pattern Recognition
How to play Pattern Recognition
Make a pattern. Can the group crack it? One player secretly creates a pattern rule and performs a sequence. Others have to figure out the rule and join in correctly. Great for groups who love puzzles.

How to play
- One player secretly decides on a rule (e.g., 'every third word I say is a color').
- They perform or speak naturally, following their hidden rule.
- Others observe and try to guess what the rule is.
- When you think you know, try to participate and follow the rule yourself.
- The player with the rule confirms if you got it right.
Example round
- Rule: 'I clap after any word with more than 4 letters.' Others watch and try to clap at the right moments.
- Rule: 'Every time I start a sentence, I touch my nose first.' Subtle. Takes a while to notice.
- Rule: 'I only make eye contact when saying a lie.' Gets intense fast.
Tips
- Start with obvious patterns to teach the format, then get sneaky.
- Body language rules are harder to spot than verbal ones.
